Evaluation-based funding is the most common model in the retail prop industry. You pay an upfront fee for an evaluation account, hit defined profit and drawdown targets, and only then get access to a funded account and payouts.
The trade-off vs. instant funding is time and effort in exchange for a lower upfront cost. The trade-off vs. firm-capital models is that most evaluation firms fund you on a simulated (SIM) account rather than live firm capital — payouts come from the firm's balance sheet, not real market P&L.
The firms below run an evaluation or challenge phase. Rules, targets, and account sizes vary widely — read each firm's specific rulebook before committing a fee.
How a firm qualifies
A firm qualifies when it runs at least one verified evaluation program. Structured program data decides membership; firms with no structured programs fall back to their stated primary or secondary funding model.
Results use ProprietaryTrading.com's program and account-tier data where available, with firm-level data used as a fallback when appropriate. Firms with no stated value are excluded rather than counted as zero.
