Bank and institutional desks sit at the professional end of proprietary trading. Traders are employed, risk is managed centrally, and compensation comes as salary plus a share of desk P&L.
Entry is by hiring process, not purchase: quantitative screening, interviews, and often a background in markets, engineering, or mathematics. Capital is the firm's, and so is the infrastructure.

How a firm qualifies
A firm qualifies when it runs at least one verified bank / institutional desk. Structured program data decides membership; firms with no structured programs fall back to their stated primary or secondary funding model.
Results use ProprietaryTrading.com's program and account-tier data where available, with firm-level data used as a fallback when appropriate. Firms with no stated value are excluded rather than counted as zero.
