Topstep Labs Drops a $50K Static-Drawdown Trading Combine: $149 Once, Floor Fixed at $48,000

Topstep's sixth Labs drop is a limited $50K Trading Combine with a static $2,000 Max Loss Limit that never trails, a $4,000 target, and a one-time $149 fee with no rebills or resets. Funded payouts are capped at $8,000, and quantities are limited.
## What happened
**Topstep** has opened **Labs Drop #006**, a **$50K Static Drawdown Trading Combine**, as a limited-availability product for October 2026. Topstep''s [Labs page](https://www.topstep.com/labs) shows it as now available, and the [Topstep Labs help article](https://help.topstep.com/en/articles/15520357-topstep-labs) lists the full parameters.
The headline difference is the drawdown. Topstep''s standard Trading Combines use an end-of-day trailing Max Loss Limit. On this one the floor is **static**: start at $50,000, and the account fails only if the balance drops below **$48,000**, however high it climbs first.
Topstep appears as an **active** firm in the [ProprietaryTrading.com directory](https://proprietarytrading.com/firms/topstep).
## The rules, from Topstep''s own pages
Checked **5 October 2026**:
**Trading Combine (evaluation)** * Buying power **$50,000**; profit target **$4,000** * Max Loss Limit **$2,000, static** (non-trailing) * Mandatory Daily Loss Limit **$1,000** * Consistency target **55%** * Max size **4 mini / 40 micro** contracts * Price **$149 one-time**, with no subscription, no rebill and no resets * Expires **90 days** after purchase; 30-day inactivity rule * Limit of **5 per trader**; Express Funded activation is **free**
**Express Funded Account (XFA)** * Choose **Standard** (Topstep''s Labs page cites five $150 winning days) or **Consistency** (40% consistency target) * Payout cap **$8,000** on either path * Max Loss Limit stays **$2,000 static**, then sets to **$0** after the first payout * Daily Loss Limit **$1,000**; scaling plan 2/3/4 contracts
**Live Funded Account** * Sized like Topstep''s standard $50K Combine, with a **$10,000** minimum starting balance and a $1,000 Daily Loss Limit * Call-up to Live is at the discretion of Topstep''s Risk team
Topstep also points Labs buyers to its Risk Adjustments article, which covers how high-risk products and CPI restrictions can affect an account.
## How static differs in practice
Topstep''s help article gives its own example. With EOD trailing, a trader who makes money then gives some back sees the floor move up behind the best closing balance. With a static floor, the room grows as the account grows: on this Combine, a balance of $52,000 leaves $4,000 of room above the $48,000 floor rather than $2,000.
The trade-off is that the floor never resets in your favour if you start badly, and the Combine cannot be reset.
## Context: what Labs is
Topstep Labs is the firm''s run of limited experiments, led by Josh Schwartzberg of The Futures Desk, which Topstep acquired. Topstep says some drops may graduate into the main programme and others will not, and a drop that sells out does not come back unless Topstep says so. Earlier drops, per the same help article:
* #001 **$25K Static Drawdown** Trading Combine (June 2026) * #002 **$250K Freedom Funded** Trading Combine (July 2026) * #003 **$3K Challenge** (August 2026) * #004 **$1.5K Challenge** (September 2026) * #005 **$6K Challenge** (September 2026)
## Why it matters
The largest US futures prop brand is now testing a second static-drawdown size, this time at $50K, and selling it as a one-time fee rather than a recurring bill. Static floors and one-time pricing are what many smaller futures firms compete on. If Topstep folds this structure into its standard lineup, comparisons on drawdown type and fee model change across the category.
