Brokerage

Infrastructure

Brokerage refers to the firm that executes trades and to the commission structure charged per transaction.

Brokerage refers both to the firm that executes trades and to the commission structure charged per transaction. In prop trading, the brokerage relationship is between the firm and the executing broker; the trader interacts with the firm''s platform rather than directly with the brokerage.

Commission rates vary by asset class and platform. Futures prop traders typically pay $2.50–$5.00 per round-turn contract; forex prop traders pay through spread and sometimes additional commission; equity prop traders pay per-share or per-trade rates.
